Day 5 Arriving in the Outer Hebrides

harrythehymersholi

Today was the first of our ferry crossings, travelling from Uig to Lochmaddy. We went to Portree to get fuel and some bits and pieces from the coop before heading for the port. Crossing was fine. We left the dogs in the motorhome and went up into the lounge. Leaving Uig, it was wet with low cloud, so couldn't see much but, once we were out of the harbour, the clouds lifted and the sun came out. We wished we had taken the binoculars up with us, as the views were amazing.

When we arrived at Lochmaddy, we drove straight down to South Uist and spent the night at the picnic site at Gearraidh Na Monadh. Beautiful position with a lovely beach.

We are Alan and Suzie Harding and we travel around in our Hymer Exsis T 598, called Harry, with our three rescue dogs: Sasha, Badger and Benji.  We used to keep a written diary of our travels but decided to write it as a blog instead.
