We left our overnight park up at 9am and headed for the ferry at Eriskay. Luckily, we were booked on the 10:15am ferry as, if we had been on a later one, it could have been cancelled due to a forecast for high winds. The crossing was a bit choppy but I was able to get out and take a few photos from the top deck, until a large wave came and soaked me!
On arrival at Ardmhor, we headed straight to Barra airport to see if any planes came in and to eat our lunch. We were very lucky to see one plane come in, take off and a second plane come in, in the time we were sitting there.
From here, we drove down to the island of Vatersay, passing Castlebay. Once on the island, we stopped to take photos of the war memorial and stopped again to visit the wreck of the Catalina flying boat.
We made our way to our overnight stop on authorised parking near the visitor centre.
Due to the ferry cancellations and the continued forecast for strong winds, we decided to book ourselves on a crossing back to South Uist on Saturday, just in case our Friday ferry was cancelled.
